Getting indexed - Search Engine Submissions VS crawlable site with links
Gone are the days of manually submitting your site URL to search engines to get indexed. So how exactly do you get indexed then?
These days search engines find new sites by following links from other sites. In basic terms it means that you need to get another site, one that already appears in a search engine index, to link to yours. The search engines will spider or crawl all the links on that site and eventually find the link to your site and start to index the pages of your site.
To check whether a site appears in a search engine index you have to do a simple test. Let’s use my website as an example on Google. If I type “site:www.mantaseosolutions.com” in the search box, then Google shows which pages are currently in their index.
Do the same with your domain name, type “site:www.yourdomainname.com” in the search box to see whether there are any pages indexed.
If Google does not return any results, then your domain is not indexed.
It is easy to get links from other sites.
You can ask a friend to link to you from his/her site.
You or post a comment or reply in a forum or blog.
You can write a press release.
You can submit your site to a directory.
You can try and get one-way links from other sites that relate to your site’s content.

Thanx for the tips. I find it a big battle to get viewers if you don’t have money to advertise, like Adwords. But I have been adding my sites to directories like Afrigator as well as posting comments on other blogs, and have been seeing an increase in traffic to my site as a result. It aslo pays to have a topic that is of interest to other web surfers.
Hi There. Marketing with money is not the only way to market. Viral Marketing is another way. Social Media is another. Adding your site to directories is a nother. Commenting on Blogs and Forums is also another. There are many ways to market yourself that does not cost money, just time. Which brings us to the saying: Time is Money….
OK, Let’s not go there.
