WordPress Automattic Stats plugin for your self-hosted blog
There are so many plugins for WordPress that it is totally scary and wonderful at the same time. Installing new plugins on your blog is always exciting and many of us are thrilled to play with new gadgets or new technology.
Website monitoring or statistics is not something new and plugins to monitor your blog visitors have been around on WordPress for some time already, but nevertheless, WordPress just released their own version to track your blog visitors.
Automattic Stats was built to focus on the most popular (perhaps the most important) metrics that you want to monitor on your blog and provide them in a clear and concise interface.
Installing this stats plugin is easy, simply download Automattic Stat, unzip it and upload to your “wp-content/plugins/” folder. Once uploaded, Activate it in your dashboard and all that is left is to put in your API Key. The rest of the process is automatic.
Once activated, it will begin collecting information about your pageviews, which posts and pages are the most popular, where your traffic is coming from, and what people click on when they leave.
An additional link is added to your dashboard which allows you to see all your stats on a single page.
One important feature is that because all of the processing and collection runs on WordPress servers, it does not cause any additional load on your hosting account. In fact, WordPress (Automattic) claims that it is one of the fastest stats systems, hosted or not hosted, that you can use.
Why not put it to the test today?

Looks interesting! I’m using statcounter.com right now and the free version is a bit too limited for my taste.
Hi Thomas. I am not familiar with statcounter at all. My webhost has AWStats setup on my hosting account and for good measure I use Google Analytics and now WordPress Automattic Stat as an added comfort in case something is missed LOL - thanks for commenting.
BTW, I love your blog on Norway - very nice pictures !
i’m using idlogger (http://www.idlogger.com) for web statistics, it’s very powerfull and affordable.
Hi idlogger. Thanks for your comment.
